This past Thursday, June 11, Farmers Market Council Bluffs had it’s first market of the season. Usually starting at the beginning of May, the market was delayed a few weeks due to the covid-19 pandemic.
The opening market had a great turnout with more than 600 people coming down to Bayliss Park to visit the local vendors. There were a lot of familiar faces and a few new ones.
Based on the Governor’s guidelines set in late April, the vendors at the opening market either had farm products or produce. On Thursday the Governor lessened the restrictions on farmers markets. This means that at future markets the vendor variety will grow and include artisan crafts and other goods.
Currently supplemental activities at the market are suspended for the season. This includes the play space, wellness activities, and live music. As local guidelines change some activities may start back up.
We’re excited for this year’s market and are looking forward to a great season.
