November 20th thru December 31st
The 712 Initiative, Family Inc. and the Community Foundation are excited to announce the new StoryWalk® on the 100 Block! Starting November 20th, kids and families are invited to take a walk through the 100 Block as they read pages from a book displayed in business windows. To start the walk, kids and families can download the official map below or find the one posted at the starting location to follow the marked path from store to store to read the book.
The route is laid out in a loop and will include a family selfie station along the way! The Giving Snowman, written by Julia Zheng, is a book about kindness and gratitude. Children can learn through the story that giving to others is a virtue that connects all of us and makes our lives more beautiful.
As a way to help promote reading and exercise, the StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT. It was developed in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition and the Kellogg Hubbard Library. The 712 Initiative, Family Inc, and The Community Foundation are excited to introduce this new event for the community to enjoy as they take in the beautiful Holiday lights on the 100 block.
