Clean Sweep 2019 8535This collective volunteer effort to clean up the community gathers volunteers from around the city and assigns them sections of the community for a Council Bluffs-wide spring cleaning!

Since we began tracking in 2012, this event has resulted in more than 18,000 pounds of trash cleaned up. Imagine how much it’s been since this event was created in 1971! A great help for beautifying the community each year.

$15 food/drink vouchers will be handed out to the first 150 volunteers to use at participating 100 Block Restaurants!

Want to Clean Sweep your own trash? This year you can!

The 712 Initiative is adding two new additions to our Clean Sweep event! First, we will have six public dumpster drop sites. At these drop sites, you can bring items you wish to throw out, as long as it is not a prohibited item. See the locations of these dumpsters below. Our second addition is neighborhood dumpsters! If your neighborhood wants to purge as a group, apply below for a dumpster to be dropped in your neighborhood free of charge! The 712 Initiative has a limited number of FREE dumpsters available for neighborhoods looking to do some spring cleaning in 2022. Neighborhood contact is in charge of finding an appropriate location that will not block the right of way, and policing excessive dumping or hazardous/prohibited items. Units will be gifted based on collective impact (not for single resident use). Apply for a neighborhood dumpster below! ALL NEIGHBORHOOD DUMPSTERS HAVE BEEN RESERVED! CHECK BACK NEXT YEAR TO RESERVE YOURS!

*Prohibited items include: Chemical Wastes, Paints/Solvents, Auto Fluids, Pesticides, Electronics, Batteries and Tires.
