Funding for the acquisition, renovation or preservation of historic or priority buildings in downtown Council Bluffs.
The Storefront Grants Program, part of the Community Revitalization Fund, encouraged eligible properties to undertake comprehensive exterior repairs and improvements to historic commercial properties. The program provided grants or equity-like loans structured to accommodate other redevelopment financing tools. Many properties were able to improve their storefront with these funds which changed the face of the 100 Block and Haymarket districts.
The projects resulted in improved structural and visual quality of these properties and provided additional commercial, retail, and residential opportunities. Program has also motivated other property owners in the district to make improvements. Projects completed include:
