COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA, February 28, 2019– The 712 Initiative is once again offering the opportunity for Council Bluffs residents and businesses to cultivate a garden through its community garden program.

Plots are now available for rent at CreekTop Gardens (formerly Creek Top Community Garden) located at 12thStreet & Avenue B in Council Bluffs.  The garden season runs from May 1 through October 31, 2019.

New this year is garden programming provided by Big Garden of Omaha and the Master Gardeners from the ISU Extension Office, which CreekTop Gardens members get priority access to.  The Master Gardeners will also be assisting with overall maintenance and helping gardeners with their plots throughout the summer.

For a nominal fee, residents can rent a plot for the 2019 season and try their hand at growing their favorite fruits and vegetables.

You can apply for a garden plot at bit.ly/ctgplotapplication. There are a total of 90 8’x4’ garden plots available for rent and tend.

Fees for the 2019 season are:  $25 for one plot, $45 for two plots, $65 for three plots and $80 for four plots. There is some income based rental assistance provided by CHI Mercy for those who qualify.
