Location: Kanesville Memorial | Open Monday-Sunday – 1:00-5:00 PM
Story: The Kanesville Memorial commemorates a key settlement in Iowa, honoring it as a place of rest, preparation, organization, and ministering for Latter-day Saints on their journey to a new life out West. This site highlights Council Bluffs’ role in one of the largest organized migrations in American history.

Challenge: Find the statue that honors the pioneers. What emotion do you think it captures? Take a thoughtful photo and share your impression.

The Railroad Boom (1860s-1900s)

Location: Golden Spike Monument, UP Museum (Th-Sat 10AM-6PM) or RailsWest History Museum (Reopening in May!)
Story: Council Bluffs played a key role in the Transcontinental Railroad, thanks to President Abraham Lincoln. Discover how our city became a railroad hub.
