COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA, April 24, 2019– Farmers Market Council Bluffs (FMCB) kicks off its 2019 season Thursday, May 2 in Bayliss Park. The market runs from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays throughout the summer.

The 2019 FMCB season includes 24 season-long vendors and 20 rotating weekly vendors, ranging from fresh produce, local meats, baked goods and unique crafts. The farmers market is a program of The 712 Initiative and is presented by CHI Health Mercy Council Bluffs.

The 712 Initiative has teamed up with five fitness partners to provide wellness activities at each market from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. These partners are the Charles E Lakin YMCA, Studio Bliss, CrossFit Council Bluffs, First Row Fitness and Life Dimensions by Ilona who will lead activities ranging from yoga to Zumba to CrossFit.

The market’s play space is sponsored by Centris Federal Credit Union this season and provides a great place for kids to enjoy the market while parents shop. There will also be live music from local performers at each market from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

“We’re very proud of our market and what it adds to the downtown area. Markets are vital community meeting places and contribute to the economic success of the city and the health and well-being of its citizens,” said Sheryl Garst, CEO of The 712 Initiative.

FMCB is the place to be for locally sourced farm-fresh foods and homegrown fun including live music, group fitness, kids activities, special events, and more!
