COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA, April 4, 2019– The 712 Initiative has kicked off its 5th Annual Shoe Recycling Drive happening now through April 22.

The drive is hosted each year to help divert thousands of shoes from our local landfill, as it takes shoes about 1,000 years to decompose.

Pairs of shoes can be dropped off at The 712 Initiative’s office, 1228 S. Main Street, during regular business hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The 712 Initiative has partnered with Funds2Org to help reuse or repurpose the donated shoes by sending them to developing countries. Last year, 4,148 pounds of shoes were diverted from the landfill during the shoe drive.

Don’t drag your heels on this! Let’s save our shoes from the landfill while repurposing them for people who need them.

If your organization or business would like to host your own collection, please reach out to Carol Horner at 402-871-8414 or chorner@beinsynch.comfor more information.
