Assume the role of a Council Bluffs native and embark on a historic migration route across Council Bluffs May 6-12, 2024!

 Celebrate CB is a cherished tradition that brings our community together in a spirit of pride and unity. For over 50 years, this week-long celebration has been a highlight on the Council Bluffs calendar, showcasing the best our city has to offer. Through the dedication of our community committee and strong partnerships with local schools, businesses, and nonprofits, Celebrate CB continues to evolve and grow each year. Additionally, it serves as a testament to the strength and vibrancy of our community, highlighting the values of collaboration, inclusivity, and celebration. We are undeniably proud to be a part of such a meaningful event that unites us in celebration of our shared heritage and future. So, let’s come together to honor our community and all that makes Council Bluffs a special place to call home.

2024 Celebrate CB Schedule!

All Week

Scavenger Hunt on the FIRST AVE Trail through the Iowa West Otocast Art App (May 6-12)Download the Otocast App, funded through the Iowa West Foundation to participate! The scavenger hunt will include 10 stops along the trail. Find them using the Otocast app to be entered into a drawing for various prizes like scooters and games. Make sure to download the app today at: https://www.otocast.com/ 

Monday, May 6

At 3:45 p.m., Mayor Matt Walsh will declare May 6-12, 2024, as Celebrate CB week, promoting the vibrant community of Council Bluffs. Instilling everlasting pride in our thriving city. 

Tuesday, May 7

The Clean Sweep event runs from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. for a community-wide spring cleaning. Volunteers from across Council Bluffs get together to clean up; last year, the community collected over 1,400 pounds of garbage. There will be drawings for gift card drawings and prizes awarded for categories like Best Team Participation, Most Spirited Team, Most Litter Collected, and even Most Unique Item Found.

Saturday, May 11

Pancake Man + Celebrate CB Parade + Free Kids Activities 

The Pancake Man  will be serving up his famous pancakes in Bayliss Park from 8:00 – 10:30 a.m. Adults are $5 each and kids 12 and under eat free. Breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, and bottled water. Other drinks are available for purchase. Presented by The 712 Initiative and The Council Bluffs Area Chamber of Commerce 

Parade  10:30am

The Celebrate CB Parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will wind its way through the downtown streets. Emcees for this year are Peggie Sweet and Chuck Denver from Bluffs Country. Registration for the parade ends May 3, 2024. 

FREE Kids Activities in Bayliss Park from 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Enjoy games, art activities, fitness activities and more! Food trucks will be on-site and offer a variety of items for purchase. Stop by after the parade for some family fun and lunch or a snack. Partners include All Care Health Center, PACE, Kanesville Symphony Orchestra, Chanticleer Theater, Iowa Rampage, YMCA, Council Bluffs Soccer Club, Habitat for Humanity, Home Depot, Heartland Family Services Peer Center, and Council Bluffs Kids Business Fair.  

Kanesville Symphony Orchestra will perform from 11:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. and again from 1:00-1:45 p.m. 

City of Council Bluffs Murals and Music Cochran Park 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Eight local artists will be actively painting murals on temporary art cubes installed at Cochran Park. Attendees will have the opportunity to see these artists in action, gain insight into their creative process, and engage with them as they bring their visions to life. Plus, live music with Andre VanderVelde, and food trucks will be on-site with concessions available for purchase.  

Events happening in the community that add to Celebrating our CB on Saturday, May 11th include: 

Corgi Races at River’s Edge Park 10:00 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. promises a spectacle of adorable athleticism and pure canine excitement. Vendor Booths, Food, Refreshments, and Family-Friendly Fun! 

BIG Bounce America at Westfair Fairgrounds and Amphitheater. Two weeks of fun starting May 11th! From toddlers to adults, there is something for everyone!
