COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA, September 5, 2019– Registration is open for the second annual BIKEtober in the Bluffs and its supplementary event BLOCKtober Fest, happening Saturday, October 5 on the historic 100 Block.
This year’s BIKEtober will be a 22-mile fun ride that follows the Pottawattamie County Trail System. Starting at the 100 Block in Council Bluffs, cyclists will be escorted by police to the trails and then follow a marked trail that returns to the 100 Block.
In addition to the bike ride, this year introduces BLOCKtober Fest, the only Oktoberfest-style event of its kind in Council Bluffs.
This Bavarian style festival will include live music, German food and beer tastings. Along with stein hoists, a pretzel eating contest and many more activities.
“I’m excited that we can bring these two events to Council Bluffs,” said Jeff Snow, Director of Programming and Events for The 712 Initiative. “This event pairing is the perfect opportunity to get outside and have fun, while in-turn supporting The 712 Initiative and our local trail system. With a combination of bikes, beers and polka, we are sure there will be something everyone can enjoy.”
BIKEtober in the Bluffs registration is $20 and includes a t-shirt. BLOCKtober Fest registration is $20 and includes an exclusive tasting glass, a beer tasting, pretzel necklace and meal ticket. Registration is $30 for both events.
