The 712 Initiative has some amazing board members that help our organization run smoothly. We’d like to introduce you to some of the people who’s contributions and insights help make our nonprofit what it is today. Each board member has a unique perspective to bring to our nonprofit and we’re so grateful for their service.

How long have you been involved with The 712 Initiative?
3 years

What drew you to joining The 712 Initiative board?
My commitment to the community as well as the live well piece of the mission.  I was a former personal trainer and healthy living has always been a priority.

What is your favorite thing The 712 Initiative does?
I serve on the Housing Revitalization Committee and I love that this program can take a house that is in poor condition, to a home that enhances the neighborhood and home ownership in Council Bluffs.

How do you think The 712 Initiative’s work adds to the community?
The 712 Initiative’s mission is to create a place where people want to live, work and play. Just in the last year, I can say that my family has taken part in many of the programs offered through the 712. We’ve gone to the farmers market, participated in BIKEtober and the Shamrock Shuffle.  Without these programs, community members like myself, would have to find things to do outside our community.  In addition to the events; affordable housing is critical in our community, and The 712 Initiative is working hard to address this issue.

Are you part of any other boards or community groups?
When I have the opportunity, I often engage in Chamber events, Impact CB events, and fundraisers throughout the community.

What do you love about Council Bluffs?
To me, Council Bluffs is a larger community that feels small but connected.
