Come celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the transcontinental railroad with a FREE, family-friendly event in Bayliss Park this Saturday, July 13, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be live music, food, and tons of free activities for the family!

Iowa native country singer, Jay Allen will be headlining the event, preceded by Civil Wars Brass Band and local favorite, the Matt Cox Band. Allen is best known for his viral song “Blank Stares” and has opened for acts such as Jake Owen and Rodney Atkins.

The Tangier Shriners are bringing out their train car for kids to explore and a barrel train for rides around the park. There’s also face painting, a photo booth, railroad book giveaways, and interactive demonstrations of leatherworking, blacksmithing and woodworking. And it’s all for free!

A wide variety of food will be available at the event from local food trucks, Well Seasoned, Smoke Is No Joke and Maui Wowi.

This event is put on by The 712 Initiative, Pottawattamie Arts, Culture and Entertainment (PACE) and the Union Pacific Railroad Museum with support from the Iowa West Foundation, Humanities Iowa and Pottawattamie County Community Foundation.
